FORUM IN VITRO
We work at micropropagation of carnivorous plants using in vitro techniques. Today we have over 80 types of carnivorous plants in sterile culture in different phases of testing. Micropropagation of plants in vitro is one of the modern biotechnologies that derive from the latest knowledge of vegetable physiology. The basic principles and procedures are described in the separate part IN VITRO CULTURE. Compared to the plants that are propagated by classic methods (seeding amount seeds or cut plants), plants propagated in vitro have many advantages. By careful selection and propagation of healthy and viable lines it is possible to produce a young plantation which gives healthy propagation material for next cultivation. Necessity of keeping aseptic environment decreases partly the economy of laboratory propagation as it requires fairly high investment into appropriate technical equipment. Energy intensity of the operation is also indispensable and so is high elaborateness and expertness. On the other hand high efficiency of these technologies reliably outweighs the mentioned problems.
The photo-gallery of the plants divided into two sections (in vitro laboratory cultivation and from the plants acclimated, grown in different stage of growth) will be gradually complemented concurrently with expansion of the offer.
DARWINIANA, the Czech Association of cultivators of carnivorous plants and other botanical curios /www.darwiniana.cz/, organizes every autumn an exhibition in the Botanical garden of Charles University, on the address: Na Slupi, Prague.

Carnivorous Plants
Dionaea muscipula
More about this unique plant
Easy to grow Drosera plants
No problem cultivation. They need only higher humidity which can be provided by using a wider pot plate and thus creating needed microclimate.
Hard to grow Drosera plants
They need higher humidity. With mountain types it is necessary to respect their needs for temperature (day and night). It is also necessary to respect their requirements for lightening length and illumination level.
Drosera petiolaris sections Lasiocephala
These plants can be generally classed with hard to grow plants. They require higher humidity, higher temperature and longer irradiance period during winter time (min. 12 hrs at-light). But the beauty of these plants outweighs their reluctance to adjust themselves to other conditions. Definitely, these plants are saloon plants, refined, exquisite and suitable for terrarium with artificial lightning.

Offer of carnivorous plants
Offer for nurserymen and salesmen
The offer is intended for nurserymen and salesmen of these beautiful plants. It is a seedling of young plants up to 30 mm (according to the species) that are fully acclimated and are intended to be grown till grown-upness and for the following retail sale. As this offer has been intended mainly for experts with the knowledge of cultivation of these plants, we do not include detailed explanations of growing particular plants here, but only partial information and some recommendation.
How to order
Order can be done by copying the selected items from the pricelist and sending them to the following email address:
