Post subject:  Media and hormones for Darlingtonia seedlings

Anyone have tips for growing Darlingtonia in vitro? Right now I have some growing on 1/2 MS with vitamins and they seem pretty happy. They are only about 2 months old, so they're still quite small. What media have others found to work best for them? Do you use any kind of hormones? On my forum, Jens (nepaholic) post a photo of a Darlingtonia seedling that he put on hormones (TDZ - Thidiazuron and BAP):

Anyone ever used hormones on Darlingtonia seedlings? And if so, what was your preferred mix?

Darlingtonia multiply very well without hormones on 1/2MS in my conditions.

Thanks Milos. Mine seem to be progressing quite quickly on 1/2 MS as well. I just thought I'd see if anyone else had better techniques for rushing their growing or multiplication.

Before few years I tested the response to cytokinin.
1/3MS medium supplemented with cytokinin 2.3 µM and auxin 0.5 µM
Cytokinin
KINETIN [ 6-furfurylaminopurine ]
trans-ZEATIN [6-((E)-4-hydroxy-3-methylbut-2-enylamino)purine]
N6 BENZYLADENINE [6 benzylaminopurine]
MoBO meta-methoxy benzylaminopurin-ribosid
Auxin
IBA - [4-(3-indolyl)butyric acid]

MoBO Image trans-ZEATIN Image

Most effective was combination trans ZEATIN + IBA

Wow Michal! Thanks for the great information! I really appreciate it.

I don't have any ZEATIN to work with and it's a bit out of my price range. I do have kinetin and IBA and it appears from your photos that you got good results with it as well.

I'll give it a try!
